Cantelli's 76th minute strike sends Knights past D2 Massasoit

Haverhill, MA (09/19/2024) — Northern Essex Community College freshman Lucas Cantelli's (Lowell) strike into the upper corner in the 76th minute was the difference as the Knights picked up a 1-0 result and, in the process, earned their first ever win over Massasoit. Jadiel Bomfim (Nashua, NH) picked up the assist as he settled a corner kick from Joel Ishimme (Haverhill) and sent the ball across to Cantelli.

The win was the fourth in a row for NECC who improve to 4-2 on the season.

Will Paganini (Derry, NH) picked up the win in goal as he recorded his third shutout in the team's last four outings.

The game was back in fourth in the opening half before the Knights controlled much of the possession in the second half before taking the lead.

NECC will play their third straight road game on Saturday afternoon when they close out the non-conference portion of their schedule as they travel to play the Hawks of York County Community College. The match is set to kickoff at 3:00pm at Sanford High School. NECC will return home to open conference play on Tuesday September 24th when host Holyoke at 7:00pm under the lights at Whittier Tech.
