NECC Knights Take Fifth at the NJCAA National Championship

Reynoso named to NJCAA National Championship All-Tournament Team

Haverhill, MA (03/20/2023) — Luis Reynoso (Lawrence) of the Northern Essex Community College men's basketball team was named to the 10 member All-Tournament as selected by the tournament committee.

Over three games in the national tournament Reynoso helped the Knights to a fifth-place finish among the 12-team field. He averaged 24.3 points and 12 rebounds per game. He recorded a 29-point performance in the Knights opening game against Northampton and followed that up with a 15-rebound game against Mohawk Valley on Friday.

In the three games, Reynoso picked up his 27th and 28th double-doubles of the season.

Reynoso and the Knights concluded the best season in program history that dates back to the late 1960's as they finished the season with a 33-2 overall record and making the national tournament for the first time in program history. Along the way, NECC picked up their second consecutive Massachusetts Community College Athletic Conference championship along with their first NJCAA Region 21 and East District Championships.
